what do you guys think of an 87+ Brake Upgrade. has any one done this to there 85/86 mr2?? and how do u like it

Or... you could just do a full big brake kit :-D

hahah those discs are bigger than my wheels ! and cost more than my whole car

8 pot brakes on an aw11, bit of overkill !

true very true, especially with no abs. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr skid right into something. dont even think about taping your brakes.

generally speaking, what is the largest size kit that fit with 15" wheels? Can you provide dimensions?

It really depends on your particular wheels. But the 11" kit will definitely fit 15" wheels. You might be able to squeez the 12" kit under there as well. Both the 11" and 12" kits utilize 6pot front calipers and 4pot rear calipers. You do not have to upgrade your master cylinder. And they come with all the braided stainless lines, brackets, pads, rotors, bolts, calipers, etc... Basically everything needed for the install and then some

No, I don't think there are any MR2 big brake kits that keep the OEM handbrake functional. Although we do sell a hydraulic ebrake kit that you could install. That would be the best solution if you need to keep your ebrake.

I have an '85 with the bigger brakes from an '87. Or so I'm told. My Mr2 was given to me by my father, and he installed the bigger brakes, along with wheels from a scion. But I'm working on saving up the $4,000 to get those 16" discs. Wooooh baby!

Lol. on an AW11, I really think the 11" or 12" kit would be plenty. You'd need some huge wheels to fit the 16" kit.

Still, even a high priced mki goes for $2500 or $3000. Spending $3k on a brake kit for a $3k car is a little silly, don't you think?

maybe if I were using it for 'just' a race car. But for street use, nah. I'd go for the 87+ brakes. I have 91' turbo dual piston brakes on my 91' NA and they are an awesome upgrade!

It's like that with just about any car and any big brake kit. If you're going to be doing the type of racing that requires big brakes, you're going to pay. Otherwise you DONT NEED big brakes, the stock ones are fine for daily driving and the occasional spirited driving.

It's like asking why people spend thousands of dollars on motor builds and motor swaps, when our cars in normal form cost around $1-4k. Because they want to go faster and play harder. It's the same with any mod. Just have to figure out how badly you want it, and why you need it
