From what i have seen it is the 87+ AW11's that have them. that said i have an 85 and i did put one on so they do still fit. IMO it was a worthy upgrade as it cost me all of $50 and that included painting. IMO anything that stiffens the body of me car will help as i live in the hills and i love to drive fast.

I think all 88 and 89 do. They also went to four bolt front struts as well as thicker bolts holding the rear strut housings in. I have an 88 hard top with a front strut bar. I did notice for some reason the 88 doesn't have a rear sway bar nor tabs for it. I also own an 85. The 85 came with two sway bars stock. It out performs the 88 with a front strut bar and front sway bar. So...I did an experiment. I removed the strut bar from the 88 and put it on the 85. Sure enough it made the steering response a little quicker. So my theory is get strut bars AND sway bars. You will feel the difference.
