Remanufactured Calipers + Pain
As long as I'm replacing bushings, struts, springs, brake pads, rotors & brake lines I figured I'd replace the calipers too...and paint the new ones before they go on.
Advance Auto sells remanufactured Cardone, Beck/Arnley, Bendix & Raybestos. Autozone sells Fenco. The Cardone & Fenco are lifetime warranty. The others 1 year. Anybody had good or bad experiences with any of these? Aren't they all the same? I mean when I send in my cores isn't one of you guys gonna end up with them on your car...only from Cardone, Bendix, etc.....? Someone is also selling some Auto Specialty ones on eBay with a 30 day warranty...no core charge. The rears are dirt cheap compared to the ones I priced at Advance & Autozone. Thoughts please. Also any thoughts on the painting. I've use the 2 part stuff and been pleased. Anybody used the spray stuff? I'm guessing the 2 part paint is better? Does anybody know where I can get just the 2 part paint? Most kits include a can of spray cleaner...which I don't need. |

Well, you can save some money by just doing a rebuild on your calipers for about $15 for the kit. Its easy as long as you have an air compesser to push out the pistions.
As for the paint I used Duplicolor Brake Caliper Paint High Preformance. I used about 3 coats and they look like my front calipers that I powdercoated. |

I ordered the Cardone's through Advance Auto 2 days ago. Hopefully will be here Friday. I also bought some Folia-Tec 2 part lacquer paint. I've used it before and was very satisfied.
