1985 MR2 Front outer tie rods and front bar bushings installation pictures
Hi guys, I just finished installing my new tie rods. I noticed someone was asking where you might find these, but I just used the local Autozone. The racoon is the assistant that comes around every now and then.

Just received my Two's R Us front stabilizer bar bushings...
Here are the pictures...man these don't feel soft at all. They feel pretty solid but since they are just for the front stabilizer bar I think they'll be fine. The old ones are bad and the black ones were a buck or two more. I figured I customise a bit.
I don't want to use too many of these since I was in an Acura that makes that squeaky noise and then it hit me, it's the bushings. I don't know if they are the same type, but I'll test these first. All I can say is that that squeak is very annoying. If you have to keep adding grease to these things, that would get old fast. Will try to get some pics when I install them. I opened these to see how I will need to install them and they are both cut the same way. I just noticed that if I try to open them up, they feel as if they will just break from the other side, at least it seems that way but maybe they are a bit more flexible than they look, so I guess I will have to take the whole bar out and try to slide them in. I'm not sure yet, but if anyone has installed these before, please let the rest of us know your procedure. Thanks.Last edited by efx; 04-18-2009 at 04:15 AM.. |

Okay, I got the front bar bushings installed...here's my procedure...
Here's the installation on pictures for the Two's R Us front bar Prothane bushings...The OEM where pretty soft. The Prothane wont break when you force them open on the bar, took a little force there. The grease is a bit dry but very sticky, I just put it all over inside and outside as you can see. The metal covers seem to have gotten bent a bit on my car, I guess from the old ones being worn, but a bit of force got them back in place and they seem pretty solid now. I haven't tried the car yet so we'll see how it feels later. Last but not least, these pictures were taken while I got under the car from the front, not easy trying to take pictures with that sticky grease all over your hand. Now I also know why these are cut. I didn't have to take out the whole bar. I just did one side, then the other. Now because it works well, I hear something else rattling. I think some plastic parts are lose and I did notice that too. It never ends I guess. Overall, I think they also help stabilize things a bit. I test drove the car but it's hard to tell. Maybe the twisties will tell me when I get there.
