The engine come from a 2000 celica gts. $500 hand job an estimate. But that depend the person who prep your car for the swap. Also you have to buy the ecu and wiring because the factory doesn't work for this engine;about $300. I buy this engine in puerto rico for $2,000 with 6speed jdm trans, and ecu.But I think in the us. is in low price.

The 6spd tranny is a C-60... it bolts to the ZZ series engines.

If you want a 6spd for the AGE series engines, you'll need a C-160 from the Blacktop 20v 4AGE. Your other option... Use the bellhousing from your C-52 and mate it with the C-60 from the Celica.

What about mating the 2zz to the existing C52? I don't need 6 gears and the extra weight of the 6-speed for open track events.
I am guessing that the 2zz bellhousing will bolt up to the C52.

The mr2's bellhousing, or any other A series bellhousing, will not bolt up to the 2zz. However, you can use a 00+ celica gt's c56 in place of the 6speed. With this tranny, you should also be able to use your original axles.

If you wanted to be real cheap about it, or you just spent money rebuilding your c5x, you could potentially just use a 1zz bellhousing with your original mr2 transmission.

So wouldn't the 2zz bellhousing bolt to the C52?

Any ZZ series bellhousing should bolt up to any C series transmission. The only problem using a 2zz housing would be that it uses a different input shaft bearing. But if you switched this out, you could use the 2zz housing.

One problem w/ mating the 2zz to the 5spds is that the gears arent matched for the rev happy engine. The car will be alot slower as well as proving difficult to stay on the high cams between shifts. When shifting, you'll end up on the small cams and have to rev back up to the large ones. Not beneficial at all.

You could potentially use the money you'd save on a 6speed, and put it towards a power fc. Put the engagement point down around 4500rpms where it should be.

Whoa!!! Doug, 4500 is wayyy too low to set the change-over. You wouldnt want to run it that low unless your running forced-induction. And its not just as simple as dropping the highcam engagement, you also have to coinside the variable valve timing too. Its not a simple feat. Some power has been made by dropping to 57 or 58k, come to think of it... I think someone has effectively done a 5500 change-over (w/ VVT-i changes too).

IIRC it was about a 20-25 whp improvement and they netted an additional 12-16ish. Dont hold that as fact, but I believe it was somewhere in this neighborhood.

The only reason you would ever want to make the change-over that low is to open the valves earlier for better breathing when you've added the forced induction and making a smoother, more linear hp curve.

sorry i'm a bit lost, i have a 20v 4age. i would like to have a lsd.
what are my options, i have a welder etc for making adapter plates, moving starters etc

first question do all c-series gearboxes bolt to the 4age? eg. c60, c64, c153 or c160

i'm researching toyota transmissions and a few things dont add up....

i understand the engine codes eg 4age 3sgte etc etc....

now in the uk the cheapest lsd gearbox seems to be a E153 from a 3sgte mr2 or celica.

now what is the chance of fitting one of these to a 4age???
for starters is the bolt pattern the same?
i realise the shaft will be a different size but we could probably get round this with a mk2 fly wheel and clutch etc on an adapter plate...

if i'm comletely barking up the wrong tree let me know.

also from above am i right in saying i can get a c64 gearbox from a celica with a 2zz-ge and it will bolt up?

also i belive this c64 gearbox is used in a lotus elise 2004 onward or the c60 in the mk3 mr2? would this bolt up?

i may have got mixed up on some of my facts there..... please help me...

2ZZ sounds like zzz ZZZ zzz to me. Why not go for a true race engine, the 4AGE?

^You're not going to try and claim that a 4age is faster than a 2zzge now are you?
