Help I seem to be missing something in the trunk
my fans are on all the time and I changed the temp sensor in the rad and that isn't the problem so I was wondering if I'm missing something that's causing it because I have a connector on the drivers side of the trunk with nothing

That plug is for the ECT computer for auto transmission'd cars. It's more than likely that your radiator sensor is toast. They're not too expensive, but you have to drain a lot of coolant, and then refill and properly burp your cooling system to replace it.

Thank you, I've always wanted to know because all the mr2's I've seen have nothing for that plug.
As far as the radiator sensor I replaced it with a new one and still the same problem. I even went and got two from the junk yard and tried those and they're still on full blast! |

Heres a fan relay diagram that may help.
![]() I know this is for a gt4 but its wired pretty much the same as an mr2 minus the a/c switch which needs to be jumpered if the a/c is removed. Ok, notice that if you loose the rad fan switch, the fans will run full time because it allows the relay to switch the fan motor on. Its normally held off its contacts by being constantly ON. So youve replaced the switch they still run full time. This system relies on the first relay on the diagram with the 12volt perm feed being activated when you turn on the ignition. If it dosent switch on the fans will run full time no matter what you do with the rad fan sensor switch. So, you need to check the fuses first, and then substitute the relay for a known good one. Note; you MUST use the correct relay for these fans as theyre wired differently to other relays that LOOK similar. Theres a diagram on the exterior of them that will help you dentify them. Hope this helps. ![]() |
