New 20V install turns over, won't start
I just installed my 20V ST w/ BT ECU, had MR220V do the harness, installed the harness, double and triple checked all connections, and it won't start. It kicks over, and I can smell gas, but it doesn't start. It almost seems like I have no spark, but everything is hooked up as it should be (I think). If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be a tremendous help.
Thanks, Bill |

OK, found out what the problem was, it was the timing. Got it started, but now it won't idle. I don't have the alternator or water pump belt on right now because there isn't any antifreeze in it and I didn't want to seize the water pump. Could the alternator not running cause it? If not, what else should I look for?
Thanks, Bill |

OK, I got it to idle, but it was actually by accident. I put the accessory belt on and forgot to attach the vacuum line to the brake booster from the right side of the motor. It idled, but had a terrible hissing noise from the vacuum line. I reconnected it, and the motor stalled. I took off the cap from the drivers side vacuum line on the top of the vacuum rail (large hose) and it idled just fine, but around 1300 rpm which should be around normal when it's cold. Anyone? Any input?
Thanks, Bill |

Nope...
Not quite yet. Still trying to figure out why it's cutting out at around 4.5k RPM. I get great power and everything, when it hits 4.5k, it's almost like a fuel cut or something. Any ideas?
Thanks, Bill |

That's about where the VVT kicks in... maybe it's not advancing the cam?
