20v Flywheel

I'm swapping in a silver top and thought I'd put on a lightened flywheel while I was at it. Any recommendations? I've been trying to find a Fidanza, but all I've been able to find are ones for the 16v. Would they fit a silver top?

Nearly any 4age flywheel will fit the silvertop.

Depending on how light you want to go, you might consider a blacktop flywheel as it's a good bit lighter than a standard 4age flywheel.

Fidanza? Hmmmmm... Think about that one. I say get an AASCO one, reason why is because they are aluminum but have a steel friction plate that is removable. This makes rebuilding flywheels a lot easier in my book, plus you really never have downtime if you have extra heat shields when doing a clutch job.

Fidanza has removeable steel inserts as well, Fidanza and Exedy LWF's are probably the only 2 I would run Exedy being the better one, but Fidanza being of high quality also ( price difference is big also, Exedy LWF's are not cheap).

I would not trust too many LWF's to be honest the 2 I listed above I do trust, because you would NOT want it to shatter when turning 8 grand and it fly through the engine bay firewall and seriously injur you.

I try not to scare anyone but in the MR2 its a fact of life that the flywheel is in line with the driver.

Well, I'm glad to hear that Exedy flywheels are good. I just bought one and I wasn't sure if they were good. Apparently they are rated to 11,000 rpm which was encouraging.

Depends on application on what you're going for. From what I know the 200mm stock flywheel has a lower momentum of inertia than the 212mm flywheels, except for the Black Top one. This means that it will rev faster in theory. But I believe the 212 flywheels have a larger frictional surface. So it all depends on what you want.

My Silver top was a automatic so I put my old stock '86 stock 16V Flywheel on and works just fine
