20V MK1 Engine Swap ac disconnection

When taking out the 16v, how do you safely disconnect the ac system? I always thought the system was dangerously under pressure. How has everyone else done this?

ok, i haven't done this but i am lead to believe there is a bleeder valve you will need to use.

Its not bad. Slowly loosen pipe to the compressor until you start to hear air....let it leak down and open it up some more until its all gone.
