Stuck on my Mk1.5 project

Im stuck! The throttle cables wont reach! What am i suppose to do? The 3sgte measures the speed electronically, but my 87 mr2 measured speed mechanicaly....correct? Well, thats what my mechanic told me.

I think it depends on the year of MK2 if it's a mechanical sensor or electronic.

Wait, are you talking about the throttle cable or the speed sensor?

Both. Throttle cable wont reach and my speedo wont work with the 3sgte. I don't know where i could get longer wires for the throttle cable. Its short by a couple inches.

You can get another 6 or so inches out of the throttle cable in about 5 minutes just by rerouting the cable under the car near the engine bay for a straight-shot. If that fails, you can get even more cable by re-routing it the whole way from the front, but that will be more of a project. 20v swaps deal a lot with this sort of thing- read up in that section for a how-to if you need to reroute it the whole way.

Concerning the speed sensor, the early E153's had mechanical speed sensors as I recall. They *should* be interchangeable, so just pull out the electronic speed sensor, and pick up a mechanical one- install it and you should be good, provided the connector is the same size as the mki's is, and on that I don't know for certain.

Try the for sale section, or your local import auto place just might have one. Ask for a speed sensor to a '91 MR2 turbo- then ask to make sure it's mechanical (it should be, but double check).
