Flywheel and pressure plate question.
I bought an XTD lightweight flywheel off of ebay for my 20V swap and the pressure plate that came with the clutch assembly I bought before I started the swap is too small to fit on the mounting studs of the flywheel. The flywheel is labeled as being for an 85 to 89 Toyota Corolla. The clutch I bought is a Zoom Performance, Stage 2, 4 puck clutch, I only need to replace the pressure plate but am confused as to how I am supposed to figure out what pressure plate I need. Has anybody else purchased this flywheel and if so, what pressure plate will work??

First of all, please use punctuation- your post was nigh-unreadable.
There are two different flywheel/clutch sizes for the mki. Early models had the smaller 200mm(I think) clutch, and the later models had the 212mm clutch. Due to the punctuation issues in your post, I'm not gonna try and figure out which one you got of which, but you need to get a matching set either way, so you'll have to return one of the items. Which one is up to you- either will work just fine for an NA application, but I'd go for the larger clutch if you're going with some sort of forced induction. |

I could read his post just fine? You're right though, he needs a matching clutch and flywheel.

I'm sorry. Im the first to admit, I am no English major. Anyway...
The flywheel I bought. Ok, So its the F1 Prolite, same thing though! The clutch I bought. The pressure plate is too small to sit on the flywheel correctly, the stud holes in the plate don't meet up with the studs on the flywheel. |

If your pressure plate is too small for your flywheel, chances are you have the 212mm flywheel with a 200mm pressureplate.
To get a 212mm pressureplate, ask for one from an 89 mr2. |

What date did they start to change from 200 to 212mm (month and year would be handy)

I know this is an old thread, but I can't leave it unanswered.
The 200mm flywheels were only in the '85's during the first half of the year: from 12/84 > 6/85. Then they changed to the 212mm flywheel in all n/a's till the end of '89. The superchargers had a different flywheel and clutch altogether which was 224mm. |
