20V MK1 Engine Swap Thinking 20V AW11, Has questions

Im am currenty selling my mk2 and planing on buying a Outback then a Mk1 in 6 months or so. However i want to make a 220hp 20V AW11 (RPM monster) and i was wondering if anyone had tips and or suggestions on how to do this. im open to the supercharger idea, but i wont turbo it (But N/A is prefeable).

Reasons for wanting 20v over 3SG:
Smaller
Eaiser swap
Ceaper
ITB's
and i think theres potential for an exelent road/track car.
The big question: Can i use the 6 speed tranny?

My plans were to buy a n/a aw11 88 or 89 model and pretty much strip it of heavy stuff.

You're not gonna get 220hp from a 4age without nitrous or boost. You might be able to hit 180 or even 190hp naturally aspirated with tons of money and not much concern over reliability, but above that is gonna be tough.

Yes, you can use a 6-speed, but it will require modifications.

Ok, ill plan for a light weight car insted of high HP.

What mods dose a 6 speed require?

If you used the 7afe block and 82mm pistons, this would get you to 1.8L. With a blacktop head, this should be good for 180hp right off the bat. With cams and tuning, you MIGHT make it past 200hp. Belfab makes a set of aftermarket rods for the 7age stroker which should hold up well enough.

Instead of fabbing an adapter though, I would just swap the center casing from my old c50 transmission.

Go for the Beams you will have more fun :-)
I did the 20v swap and didn't really like the power so weaks. Now i put in the BEAMS and it flys :-)

Beams MKI? Interesting. This is something we have been looking at also.

A gen3 3sge will blow away nearly any if not all of the A series motors. The only one that might have a chance would be the 180hp 4agze. Same output but it's heavier. You'd be hard pressed to even mod an A series motor up to stock beams performance.

But once again, S series motors are a more difficult swap. 20v's are a nice gain, cheap, and easy to do.

i am currently having this same internal debate :P However i'm starting to think s/c 4a-ge blacktop 20v might be the go... 3s swap just seems way too fiddly, being as i can't weld and don't have any friends who can fabricate mounts etc etc new driveshafts hassssles...

Kameleon and I are looking into an easier S series motor mounting solution. He will likely be swapping one of his mk1's to an S series motor in the next month or so.
