When you removed the MAF (if you did) did you unclip the wiring connector, or did you remove the screws?

You did what? He asked a question that was one of two things. Did you remove the clip or did you remove the screws?

If you didn't remove the screws, ignore the following:

I'm going to assume you removed the screws. Basically that entire clip is very delicate. Once you remove the screws it breaks the solder points and/or jams the gauge for the AFM. What you'll need to do is remove the AFM from the vehicle, using a knife or other sharp object chizzle around the black top of the AFM, and pry it off - be careful not to do any further damage. After that you should see something similar to this,
.

(Label the terminals on the connector one through seven, with one being on the left hand side.)
If your vehicle continues to die and will not stay running, then look towards terminals 1 and 2. Terminal one is held up by the gauge for the meter when the vehicle is off (preventing a connection). When the vehicle is turned on the gauge moves to your right (looking directly down out the meter), which the flimsy rod on terminal one to connect with the rod on terminal two. This action simply turns on your fuel pump.

If your vehicle just sputters, but stays running look the the rest of the terminals and make sure all the wires have a connecting terminal. If you still can't get it to work, post a picture of the inside of your AFM up here.

When you're done playing with the AFM I'd advise you to seal it up like it was prior to being taken apart.

Damn that thing is cool inside.
Now why would you take those screws off to install an air intake?

I almost fell this a while back too, i didnt realize it unclips. So long story short i was getting ready to unscrew it until for some odd reason i just decided enough was enough for the day. I'll get back to work tomorrow. Then i fired up the computer and saw some article about not removing the screws. Lol talk about a total coincidence......Unfortunately the afm was useless (left in the open by the previous owner for 13 years....dirt,grime, beehives, and everything else imaginable), so i ended up getting a new one from foy.
