Would need the same engine mounts mod as the 3S-GTE, someone local to me has been working on one for a few months.

It's possible, it's been done, but why? The gen2 or gen3 3sge is a much better motor. 165 and 180hp.

The use of a 5sfe is possible. The only problems are the mounts and of course wiring. My friend has something in the works that will help with the mounting part of it. I'm not going to say who or how, but be on the look out for that.

Swapping the 3S engine into the Mk1 is well known. I wouldn't say too common, but its a popular swap. They call it the mk1.5. Swapping the 5sfe is possible as it uses the same motor mounts. As far as the wiring.......good luck. it has and can be done, but your just going to have to figure it out. Talk to mr220v here on the board, he might be able to help you out. They make custom harnesses and an extremely reasonable price out of your existing harness.

hate to break it to ya, but no 7a-fe is going to have more power than a 5sfe. yeah, the 20valve makes good power.... at 7k rpms. insane gas mileage? yeah, if you drive like a grandma.

a 5sfe powered MKI would be a killer auto-x car. buttloads of low end torque, reliable power, EASY to find parts, and pretty well documented power adders.

plus, the 5sfe engines are a dime a dozen. they put them in mr2s, camrys, celicas... surprised they didnt make a truck with that engine.

yeah, so it wont be as fast as a 3sgte MK1.5, but 2x as much fun as a 4age MKI.

^But gen2 3sge's are a dime a dozen as well, they make more power, are cheap, and are simply a better performance motor. If I was going to do this type of swap, I would use this motor at a minimum. I'd use a 20v over a 5s as well. It's an excellent autoX motor. It's not peaky like you might expect. The torque isn't up to a 5s, but the peak power is much better.

If I was in California, I'd just use a 4agze.

mr220v,

After talking with you the other day I would have to agree. The 5s would not be worth the time or money to do that swap. The 3sge is a much better engine.

Suspension mods, yeah. Stock engine, money is better spent elsewhere. Working on the rest of the car for now.
Also I live in the beautiful state of California. The car is getting BAR'd after new year to be completely legal. After that I might do headers to realize the gains of the 2.5 exhaust.

I have no idea. I'm on the other board and there are quite a few 5sfte's up and running, I'm sure someone could help you.
