Pulleys : aircon / alternator
I am planning a 20v (Blacktop) swap into an '88 aw11, and wish to keep it air conditioned. Idling in summer traffic @ 40+ C the cabin heats up fast.
I can't find a definite answer to the following questions on the web : Which a/c compressor to use - aw11 or blacktop ? I assume the aw11 compressor is smaller=better, but is it good for 8k rpm, or did they change the pulley ratio ? Same questions re alternator ? If using the aw11 compressor / alternator / ac, which mounts should I use ? Do the pulleys line up (one web site says not) ? (It probably depends on which mounting brackets I use). Sorry if these are noob questions, but pulleys 1-2 mm out of line are easy to overlook, and I just got my a/c compressor overhauled, so I want to keep it. I'm running the stock compressor and bracket from my 89 and the stock crank pulley. The BT crank pulley wouldn't line up with the AC or alternator. I had the local dealer install a new compressor as mine leaked like a sieve. They had to put on a non stock length belt to get it to work but other than that no problems for a year now.
