4A-GE MK1 Engine 88 mr2 burning oil

i need to know if this is serious or not. it has 189,000 miles on it and it only burns when it first starts up after the engine warms up it quits smoking, there is no cross contamination between collant and oil, and it burns at low rpms and burns really bad at higher rpms. and when i say it burns bad its like a lingering cloud of smoke. i have filled another car with smoke that was sitting behind me:| i really need to know if its serious please help

It could be a number of things, from bad rings, bad valve seals or even cracked or broken ring lands. Definitely something to be concerned about, do a compression check and a leak down test, those will give you a better idea of what the problem is.

im buying new pistons roads and rings if that dont solve the problem then its most likely valves?

You shouldn't need new rods but if you do get new pistons you'll need new rings for them.

im getting a mini port n polish kit for it and it comes with rings pistons rods intake manifold manifold gasket throttle body and injectors for 375

Mine had a similiar problem; if you're going for an easy fix for the short run, Use that Henry's Oil Leak Stopper, or something like that. Its in a large white plastic container, and you substitute it for a quart of oil during your next change. Worked pretty well for me

If it only does it when its cold its most likely the valve seals.

wow dude- ya i had the same problem wit mine- but urs seems worse- mine problem was the valve seals- they go bad on these-bu maybe u blew a piston ring-thats allot of smoke

If you're replacing valves, go ahead and replace your valve seals. It should be a real easy job since you're going to have the head off and the valves out. You'd hate to do all this work and have it still burn oil on startup.
