4A-GE MK1 Engine idle question

when i first start my cr from sitting all night it idles at 2500 rpms as it warms up the idle slowly begins to drop and once its completely warms up it idles at 500 rpms then it wants to die i dont get it. do all these cars have this problem or is my idler puller or somethin ****ed

try adjusting the idle at the throttle body

i cant find the screw and why would my transmission not wanna shift into 4th gear untill my engine is warm? (my mr2 is a automatic

idle screw is located under the rubber cap at lower left of pic

I think i have read something before about the auto tranny not going into 4th unless the temp is high enough (safety feature i think).
Do you have an aftermarket thermostat?

no oem thermostat and idk but it uses alot of gas...lol...staying in 3rd gear on the highway doing about 65 sucks bit hey the 4 speed tranny is fun 90 outta second...lol...and do you have a air intake on that?

I personally don't like the auto but then again i have never driven an auto MK1.

yeah there is a safety feature I think it also helps to warm the engine up quicker
