SC general questions and advice
Hi all, I've owned 4 mk1 MR2's in the past including a JDM right hand drive while stationed in the UK. (eat your hear out! ) I'm now looking to get a new one to play with and keep some mileage off my tacoma. I'm looking at getting a SC MR2 but i've never owned one before. The one i'm currently looking at is a 87 with just under 200k miles on it. what are some things i'll have to worry about with a supercharged version? Is there any thing besides an oil change i should do to the car right away? how much faster are the SC'd MR2's in comparrison? of course any other advice is greatly welcomed |

If you are looking at an '87 supercharged MR2, then you are looking at a conversion since Toyota only made them as '88 and '89 production models.
That being said, I'd closely look at the entire conversion package -- electronics, tranny, wiring, jdm or US spec engine, etc… |

SC's are significantly harder to keep running good. They are more intolerant of all sorts of minor sensor, ignition and fuel problems.
However the power and potential to modify for more power make the hassles of ownership worthwhile (I think). Maybe. Break out your 1000 page BGB toyota manual, and checkbook. You're going to need them. |
