Its the gearbox that determines the diff type not the engine.

because you are wrong

so lets get this straight
1. obviously no one know what bmw gears supposibly fit in this diff so that renders your original question clearly unanswered
2. changing the gears does not make it a lsd on changing the entire diff to and lsd unit will do that
3. most people think an lsd is pointless but if you want one fine its your car best bet is just buy either a factory lsd or aftermarket one dont bother trying to frankenstein one even if they have the same measurments on the gears doesnt mean the tooth profile will be the same which mean it may not mesh and your back where you started

Cool guess not ... It 4.5 apparently and summit can match it up if I measured wrong... So I got what I needed with just opening up my **** and pulling it thanks every one.

#1 this is an old ass thread
#2 welding a diff is hardly re engineering and wont cause your car to jump into the crowd (only **** driving causes this)
#3 a welded diff may be a poor mans pozi but a pozi is a rednecks lsd
