It's been disgussed before but I'm not sure if anyone here is running one. I found a deal on a turbo setup and I'm thinking about getting it and hooking it up for low boost. I only want around 3-5 pounds of boost. I do not want to swap in 4agze pistons and I dont want to run any extra for fuel managment. I've been reading up for a while on this one and I'm still not sure if it can or should be done. The only reason I want to do it is because I found the turbo for a good deal.

Club4AG Forum Topics: Turboing a stock 4AGE

I had a few links yesterday that I cant find today. It's going to be close to the same thing as the stock engine from what I can see. Most of the things I was finding is that they can take it as long as the tune is right. I'm looking for the sites now but I cant find them. I'll post more if I can find some of them.

20V Turbo

[QUOTE= I only want around 3-5 pounds of boost. I do not want to swap in 4agze pistons and I dont want to run any extra for fuel managment.

Amen!
Although my Silvertop is not yet completed, I am thinking about a turbo with the same amount of boost. My understanding:
We can get by with a "small" turbo that will spool up quick-get some boost around 2k RPM.

A kit for the MK3 is good for 5-8 pounds, claims boost kicks in @1700RPM! By having low boost, a BOV is not needed and the turbo can be installed before the AFM.

Should sneak by with the stock ECU, might jury-rig the coldstart valve to activate if more fuel is needed during boost.

Oh, supposedly the stock supercharger intercooler does a good job for its size and its location was optimized, not merely chosen by random.

IMHO/FWIW Use a turbo from a 1.0-1.3 litre engine with the wastegate set about 5 pounds, the intercooler and plumbing should drop the boost to about 4 pounds. The silvertop uses an AFM which is easier to adapt then a MAP, also has a knock sensor, and of course a Oxygen sensor, so with a small amount of boost, the ECU should be able to compensate.
