NA Auto VS Manual Speed

Now faster is the manual compared to the automatic mr2? I use the 0-60 calculator and it said about .6 sec faster. is this true?

based on what little i know and have gathered, the autos usually are slower. i think its because the automatic tranny's shift at far lower revs for a smoother ride. i might be completely wrong but i am curious to know the answer too.

Automatic transmissions result in considerably higher drivetrain losses, and they're heavier. That's where the majority of the slowdown occurs. .6 seconds sounds about right.

The main thing is that automatic transmissions are what old people and soccer moms use because they're too inept to figure out how to drive. Manuals are way more fun, faster, lighter, cheaper, more efficient, and give you more control over your vehicle.

i dont know about .6. it feels more like 2 seconds slower. its bad, really really bad. the gear spread is all wrong and its painful!

I did read somewhere that the 4A-GZE somehow was quicker with the auto? Can someone explain?

Isn't this like comparing apples to oranges? Its you vs the computer pretty much so in the end it all depends on the driver...no?

In order for my 87 auto. to feel like a manual, I drive in #2 drive with ECT power mode in the city. The car feels like a rocket. See your driver's for max speed allowable.
