wouldn't exactly call a video of an engine smoking out the tail pipe sweet, lol.
I don't recommend junk like that. |

well the smoke is all the crap and deposits lodged in your engine burning off and coming out as carbon... that smoke means its working, your supposed to use it untill the smoke stops, then it means you have nothing left to clean.

Even though my statement above may seem su****iously critical, I do have a good report to make in the use of seafoam. Previously I owned a Reatta and the automatic transmission started slipping, I would stop at a light and it were as though I had placed the car in neutral...it would not move but just rev-up and then, after about 10 seconds, the transmission would engage. The Reatta forum chaps recommended a can of Seafoam into the transmission, I did that and within weeks the problem was gone. So it must have some ability to clean-up dirt problems. Does it remove carbon from an engine just because you see smoke when putting Seafoam into the engine...I don't know. |

It deffinitly has the ability to disolve the carbon deposites and suck in the engine. No, the smoke isnt fromt the seafoam itself.
How I know this, I once aquiered a Gallon of it and used some to soak a piston that I had lying around. After a few minutes or soaking, the carbon was becoming like a syrup almost and pretty much whiping off... As for the smoke, I was thinking the same thing about "oh, thats probably the seafoam making most or all of the smoke", but I put some in a small dish and took the torch to it. For starters, it wasn't that easy to ignite it but it did burn off really quick and there was almost no smoke at all from it and the little bit of smoke that was there was a dark gray to black (just like a overly rich fuel mix). If you really want to clean an engine GOOD and build (or buy) a small water injection system and run it periodically under high loads... Water and really more so the steam created does an amazing job at cleaning off carbon buildup and keeping it clean.. |

it does stop smoking, i put it in my mercury thinking it'd have something to clean (i was also bored
) while my friends taurus smoked like a banshee...i was almost completly clear. my buddys integra blew 4 foot smoke rings out of the fart can for about 5 mihutes, we refoamed it and it was almost smoke free, just the amount that might come out during the winter |

The way to test it and tell if it is working or not:
The Hard Way Take your engine apart, look at the block (simple right?). How much build up is there? Put the car back together and run Seafoam through it. Take your engine apart again. How much build up is there? The Easy Way Run Seafoam through your car as per the instructions. Wait a day or two and do it again. Notice there's always less smoke the second time? Personal Experience I ran it through my MR2 and it was nasty white smoke everywhere. About 6 months later I ran it through again, and there was about 1/4 as much smoke as the first time I had done it. On top of that I ran it through my WRX shortly after buying it, and there was hardly anything at all. My verdict? It's obviously cleaning something out. There's no way to tell if your car has been Seafoamed, and if using the same bottle the first time it smokes like hell, and the second time you get an odd smell of fumes out the tail pipe... that tells you the first round removed something that the second round no longer has, or has smaller amounts of. |
