Wow, I'd love to know how you got some of this stuff so clean and shiny.

My engine is currently in peices on my workshop floor and a lot of the parts look much the same condition as your before pics. I'm just beginning on cleaning up the parts now since I have 2 weeks off at the end of Jan to work on the car.. it's a big job!

Wow, for a second there I thought I was going to have to go look in my garage, and elsewhere, to see if someone had just stolen all of the parts I have been cleaning, and painting, etc., for my SC rebuild.

No, honestly, many of your parts now look almost identical to mine. Good thing you are in the Netherlands, or I'd have to hunt you down and eliminate you. I don't need the competition.

I too am curious as to what methods you used to clean and resurface many of the parts. Although I am sure your's was probably much cheaper than mine, as I used some pretty ridiculously expensive methods on many of mine. Expensive enough that I'm really not talking about it in detail much until I know for sure that the car runs extremely well after I put it back together (cross my fingers, and hold my breath).

With my luck I'll have the best non-running SC in the entire world!

Last week i've finished cleaning the last parts.
It was the valve cover. It cost me about two days of work but the result is very satisfying.

Here are the results of each step:

The last pictures show my friend who is rebuilding the engine for me.

I'm doing the cleaning and he is doing the building and the tranplant.

My secret of reviving the parts is:

First i use a special degreaser. It's a machine in my friend's garage, it pomps up the degrease fluid and then reuses it when it flows bak in to a tray.

Then i remove the degrease fluid with brake disc cleaner.

The next step is the "thoughest" one , treat the surface with 320 grit sandpaper.

Then first i spray rust stopper on the part and finally
spray it with black or silver.

I it cost me about 22 days of work until now. I started about a year and a half ago and now it's almost done.

When everything is going according to plan the engine will be swapped within 2-3 weeks.
I can't wait to start it the first time.

@ q-authority. Did you check your gargage recently? I've many connections abroad
Nice to know that there are more enthousiasts around the world to keep the AW-11 alive and kicking.

When do you think that your projects are ready to run?
If you have any pictures i would like to seem them

If you have any questions, let me know maybe i can help a bit.

Chris

Great job! I have to hand it to you, I don't have the patience for that kind of cleaning anymore, but I am doing all of the tear down, and rebuild work (ughh). I've taken the expensive route instead, and have had most of my parts either sand or bead blasted, and then either powder coated, or ceramic coated depending upon their function.
I'll be getting back my sc12 today, after having had it glass bead blasted, and then clear ceramic coated. It looks almost identical to yours. My thoughts on the ceramic coating were that most of the time the sc is not operating, and cold air is going through it, so hopefully the internal heat build-up will not be that great. Additionally, I hoped the coating would keep out some the heat soak from the adjacent engine block. We'll see.
One of my big coups though was finding a place that would bead blast my transaxle case. Unfortunately, I did not think of this while I had it apart being rebuilt, so most were reluctant to handle it all in one big very heavy piece. But it came out looking great. Very similar to what yours looks like. I'm just trying to get motivated to take a heater out to the garage, to warm it up a bit, and then spray it with a hi-temp clear coat, to preserve the nice finish.
I got so carried away with all of the blasting and coating, etc., that I have done virtually all of the engine accessory mounts, and suspension with its mounts as well. I don't even want to think about what it has cost. Everytime I do another part, I stop and say, well, if I've done that piece I may as well do this other one, and that just leads to another, and so on.
I'll be afraid to drive it, once it is finished.
Yes, I did check my garage and secret compartments. Fortunately, everything is still there. I have taken some pics of various pieces that I have done, and planned on putting them up on my Carpron site eventually, but have just been too lazy to resize them, and upload them so far. I'll let you know when I do, so you can compare.
Keep up the good work.

Thanx for the compliments!

@ q-authority
Wow i can imagine that it's costing alot when reviving the parts the way you do. But i bet the end result is amazing.
On the other hand it's a hobby and a hobby is a good thing to spent (alot) money on.
Sometimes my motivation dropped a bit but after a few weeks and the thought of driving a SC my motivation comes back very fast..

@ muffinman
For the silver and black colour i've used motip wheel spray. It's in the picture below on the right side:

Maybe someone can help me with some parts.

I'm looking for a knock sensor for the 4AGZE. Mine went missing when the engine was overhauled.

This pipe is cracked and i can't find a new one:

The 4AGZE engine is going to be built in a NA car. Do i need to use a 4AGZE fuel pump or is it the same?

Are the wheel paints high temp?

IIRC the fuel pumps are different.

They do indeed use different pumps, however, they are the same size units, and I know that the SC pump will function properly in a NA, as I pulled the pump out of my SC, and put it into my NA when I had fuel issues with the NA (my daily driver). It has worked perfectly since then.
Probably would not want to do that the other way around however.

@ Muffinman
iirc it's not high temp.

@ q-authority
Thnxs now i know for sure to go for a bigger fuel pump. I think i'll go for a denso or walbro.

@ ToyotaTechGeek
It would be great if you had one.
Just let me now what the price will be to ship it The Netherlands.

My friend is pushing the project in the overdrive, it's going fast right now.

I know people have used the Walbro, and I am sure they are good pumps, but I would get a Denso if I were you. They continue to make the best oem units available, and are always guaranteed to be a perfect fit.

If you happen to need mulitple items from them you can even get a discount. I wish I had known that before I had ordered a couple of earlier individual parts. On my last order, my webscreen said I was eligible for a discount, when I ordered a few parts, and I just had to call them to verify it. Don't know if you will have the same ability from the Netherlands, but thought I would mention it just in case.

About the only oem item you cannot order from them, that they still make, are the ac units. I don't know why they don't list them online, maybe they still have some sort of agreement with Toyota regarding them. So I ordered mine from a dealer, and had them guarantee that it would be a Denso, or I could return it, as their computers don't show what make the parts are. It turned out to be a Denso, as one of their techs said it would.

The engine looks amazing.

I don't think they looked that good when they came off the assembly line.

Great work and i can't wait to see it finished.

Finally the project is finished.

There were a few problems that appeared when the engine was mounted in the car.
I had no lambda probe, my exhaust didn't fit, the voltage regulator was gone and there was now knocking sensor to be found.
Luckily some of these parts were available in Japan. So it took a few weeks to get here but finally the waiting is over.

I've just driven the first 1000 Km and replaced the engine- and supercharger oil.
I'll have to go easy on the engine because she is completely rebuild. So the max is 3500 RPM and not to much boost from the charger.

The pics of the end result:
