4age vs 4agze rings, water pump and timing belt

Hey guys,

Anyone able to tell me off hand whether piston rings, water pump and timing belt kit are all going to be interchangeable from 4age to 4agze?

Reason being I've lucked out and got a cheap source on the gasket kit and bearings I need but they didn't have any rings and don't list a water pump or timing belt kit for 4agze...

So anyway, if those parts are interchangeable I might go to Toyota parts and pretend I have 4age.

The water pump and timing belt are the same, the rings I'm sure are different.

Yep, the others are the same, but the rings are definitely different.

That's funny... I was just looking around online to confirm this and saw a posting by someone who has been around for quite some time and is/was a Toyota tech.... confirmed that all bigport rings (including early/late and gze's) are the same.... then later in the post someone confirmed that the smallport n/a and gze rings are the same (but not the same to bigports).....

Check the part numbers at Toyota and from reputable suppliers, such as NPR, who supposedly actually manufacture Toyota's rings, as well as their own line, and you will see that they are different part numbers. Unfortunately a number of ebay suppliers don't bother to distinguish between the two.
