Iam painting my car with a White Acrylic paint...
I done a few tests on my old bumper, And 1500 wet and dry'd then cutting compound then polished it.. And it come up really good and a 'glass like' smooth surface. What i need to know is.. Do i need to clear it? And IF i do, after i have painted it.. Do i just 1500 the car, then spray the clear over the top? ![]() Dil |

sounds like you know what you are doing. I would clear coat it to protect the paint and not look dull.

1500 g is ok but as soon u put the clear coat u have to sand it with 2 or 2500 grit. Don't for get it should be wet sand. Then buff it.. The reason why u have to wet sand it is to take the orange peel off the car..and don't forget to post some pic of Ur new paint job..

I would clear it with a couple of coats. I normally wet n dry then polish about a week after to make sure it is hard. I have polished when I "felt" it was hard enough as well and got good results with both methods. Just that the weather here sucks and humidity is normally high and I don't have a paint oven.
Remember it is just paint, if you are unhappy sand and respray until perfect |

So.. I spray on the paint.. THEN let it dry.. 2000 or 2500 W&D, Then Buff it, Wax and Greese remover it and then clear? Or Paint it, Sand and clear..??
lol Sorry about the questions.. i just dont wanna ruin it.. ![]() But like you said. Its only paint.. ![]() |
