Quick Paint Question...

So I am buying paint to get my car painted. I found the color i want and all that, but since I have to mail order it I want to have all the paint that I need come in at once. So heres my question, How much paint to I need to paint my car? Im not going to worry about the inside of the trunk lid and places like that, just the places that are commonly visible.

I was thinking 2 or 3 quarts, does that sound about right? And is it closer to the 2 or the 3?

Due to the lack of time for now I am just going to go with the crimson red. I really want to paint it blue but for now I just need to get some decent paint on it. (right now my car is about 15 different shade of red and theres some sctarches that go down to metal.)

A buddy and I are going to take a stab at doing it ourselves. The way I look at it, the paint cant really get any worse than it already is. And even if it buys me another year or two then it give me the time to save up the money and get it done right, and blue

Plus we found a really solid write up on how to do it and we have both done some paint work before. this will just be the biggest project.

The guy thats helping me painted his front bumper 2 years ago with the same paint im going to buy and it looks great. I think if we just take our time and do all the steps then we should be fine.
And do you think 100 oz is enough? Im buying based on ounces, turns out its cheaper that way.

So I was starting to look into things that I would buy here in town and I came across a new question.
What is the difference between clear coat and lacqure? And which should I use for this sort of application?
