Door jamb VIN sticker question

Can new stickers with your VIN be ordered from the dealer? Reason I ask is, if I was to take this off and possibly destroy it in the process of repainting my door jambs, will I be able to get a new one? How do body shops do it? It seems kinda hokey to just mask the sticker and work around it.
