Wheel Width Debate.

I wanted to start a debate here. Ive been going w/ a friend of mine for a couple months.

Debate is: Do you want staggered tire sizes on the MR2? Or would the same size be better?

In context of handling (auto-x and track)

Please debate. But be friendly you have to remember is a opinion thing. So give your points!

IMO: Im for staggerd. For how tail happy mr2s get i think it needs the extra grip in the back of the car.

That is exactly right. Your friend that says that the car would be better off not staggered is incorrect. It's not a matter of opinion it's a matter of physics.

The rear weight bias of the MR2 creates need for stagger in order to even approach a neutral balance. Having four of the same size will have the car oversteering under hard cornering. I know some people say that 'loose is fast' but whenever you break grip, especially with the drive tires, you're scrubbing speed and reducing your ability to build it again.

There's a bunch of us that get together ever couple of weeks at pro-kart indoor in Burnsville. If you keep an eye on the regional forum I post up invites there.

I'm pretty easy to find on AIM too if you've got questions you would like answers to.

The car shipped w/ staggered wheels and tires from the factory, I think it's the only way to go w/ a Mark II.
