Wheel Spacers?

Im looking to increase the aggressivness of my 2s stance, and i found spacers ranging from 5mm to 25mm. what would you suggest? pics? im currently only running 7wide in the rear, but plan on going 8.5 or so later this summer. thanks!

You've got to be a bit more specific. What are your current offsets on the 7" wheels? What do you want out of the new 8.5" set?

Sorry to break it to you man, but offsets like that won't likely work on your MR2.

+35 on 8's and 9's work best (lip on mine from rear of car appear to stick out alittle)
is a optical illusion kinda what your after.. 215/40/17 and 245/35/17 contisports
you can go up in diameter in rear going up alittle in in offset
i also own some old 16x7.5 and 16x8.5 jdm 205/40 and 225/40
moore college sL6's +30 or +32 not sure
they really fit very nice!!!
rims are real 3 pc. slightly bent up
so they dont hold air to good anymore
deals can be found if your good
got SL6's for $250 and stock supra turbo wheels
paid $900 brand new for 17's mentioned above w/ tires
yes it was the deal of century

side note, my car came ill fitting fd3 rx7 wheels
to make work and fit best
two sets of 4mm spacers rear 215/40/16 rear
1 set 4mm and 1 set 2mm, front 205/40
rims had to be drilled out so et tuner lugs could be used
the only benifit was cheap and wheels weight was about 10 pound each
I DO NOT RECCOMEND spacers idea
its just not as safe
but (gotta do what gotta do)

3mm, then you need studs.

you can't get that concave on an mr2 because it requires higher offsets and can't take quite as wide a wheel as an s13.
the front will have to be a fairly flat face regardless. you can get some concavity in the back if you go past the fender a bit.
an 18x9.5 +35 fn01rc is one that comes to mind.

I dont suggest spacers at all really but, it well depend on a couple diff. things,
how does the lug nut fit in the wheel, how off is the offset and width from what you need. sportmax has about the cheapest wheels that will fit your car and make the
rear lip look deeper, they can be found for around $200 or less each 17x8&17x9.
i got lucky $580 4 the set!... $100 each 4the rear 245/35/17. (they were in warehouse here in memphis and had them in stock for over a year. nobody wanted them? LOL
cheap wanli's in the front $60ea. . rota has alot of nice correct offset wheels
but they usually have about same size lipf&r (fatlip rear looks are a lil more noticeable!)
for drastic offset differences. a bolt on adapter would be safer thanall those spacers
instade of long studs, i drilled out the hole in the wheel, so the slim et lug nut would go down to the hub. go to a hodrod shop to get drag ET lug nuts, they thread deep into the wheel
moore college SL6's are very old JDM rims, i found them on ebay.
sometimes ebay is a good place to look, but you need to know your offsets,
because most every vendor will say every rim they got will fit your car.
while fitting, they stick in so far making your mr2 look kinda wenee..
anything that will fit a honda accord or prelude 5lug will not fit your mr2 correctly....
w/o adapters or spacers

check out the Rota Torque series . I think I'm going for the 17x8 215/40/17 for the front and 17x9 235/40/17 for the rear . the rear will be concave .

rota should have some decent sizing for the 2 these days since they're making aggressive sti fitment (for the rear coupled with some fwd fitment for the front) and there's likely some weak Z fitment that would work out back too. hadn't looked at what would work from rota in quite some time, but probably worth the look now.

well from all the Rota wheels i've been looking at for 17'' the best setup for the offsets and everything are the Torque ones . is that your car btw ? i love the looks the wheels and the lowering is just like i wanna make my car look but with 17'' instead of 18''

also i would agree on not using spacers . you can get the adapter kinds of spacers for around $100ish a pair if you look em up on ebay but they start from +15mm. as my mechanic told me they are 100 times safer than the non-adapter type spacers and still you can only go from the 15mm-30mm range to be safe.

lots of horror stories about common spacers braking and the wheel passing you especially on high speeds

no, not my car, haven't had a deuce in years and years.
quality spacers are fine (h&r, project kics, etc), but it's still obviously smarter to buy wheels that fit in the first place.

One worry about spacers is not having enough threads left after putting a spacer on. I don't suggest using them either. But, anything over a 5mm spacer, you will want to get some longer studs, ie 20mm ones. That solves the problem of not having enough threads left to be safe.

I have 17x7.5 +30 front with 215/40/17, and it's literally like 1mm from being flush.. which is flush in my eyes, it's so minimal. There is a calculator for MR2's that will tell you this..

I have 18x9 +37 rear.. with 255/35/18, and the inner portion of the rear fender lips cut into the outside of the tire until I rolled the fender with a fender rolling tool I rented form a local shop for around $30. Now no rubbing, and I wasn't satisfied with the way the setup looked in the rear when viewing the side, so I just put 5mm spacers on, and it looks a lot better. So, I'm really +32 18x9 now. I haven't driven the car yet b/c I need a new distributor.

You can do a lot of adjusting with the camber to fit lower offset wheels, ie.. less than 30 offset.. but it depends on how much camber you want to add, and also how much tire width you are willing to sacrafice. I believe I could fit a 18x9 +27 rear with a 255/35/18 with some added negative camber. But, I don't think I'm going to do that anytime soon.

Gordaen's Toyota MR2 Wheel and Tire Calculator is the link for the calculator you mentioned based on a 2nd gen MR2 but also for other cars if you get the stock wheels right . the setup im going for will give me flush on both wheels (mentioned above)

your wheels are like 3mm farther out than flush

do you have any pics of your car similar to the pics above ?

the rota torque wheels setup im going for is exactly as this pic here sizes/width of wheels/tire sizes and considering the fact that at the moment i have all 4 wheels with 18x7.5 with 215/35/18 and ET +43 its gonna be 100 times better
