Wheel fitment flushness?
Ok so for the enkei rpf1 you would need a 17x8 +35 for flush fitment as they don't make a +23 in a 7 width or a +29 in a 7.5 width.
But will that fit without having surgery on my fenders? I have TRD springs btw 1" drop. And the rears could be 17 X 8.5 +30 or 17 X 9 +35 and should fit with no real issues? Trying to understand the offsets and other wheel info. I am trying to find a relatively inexpensive light weight wheel with proper offset for flushness without surgery or spacers. I know searching for the holy grail.... Right now i'm just window shopping as i need to save money for wheels. Just dropped 2k into whole new suspension + clutch. So wheels is next, but had to fix what was broken before what i want first. |

Pretty much same story for the 5 Zigen FN01rc
Can find 17X8 +35 for front and 17 X 9 + 35 for rear. I like the five star spoke of the 5 zigen better, but the enkei's are lighter weight i believe. Will either of these setups work? I could probably handle rolling the fenders, don't really want too though. |

possible roll in back on any of those setups. a little more than factory negative camber and they should clear even with 255. safer on the 9 rather than the 8.5 since the thinner the wheel, the more a tire will will overhang (245/40 17 on an 8.5 vs a 9, for instance).
your understanding is correct on all counts. rpf1 is at least a couple lbs lighter per corner. you can double stagger on either wheel too which is a nice option.

Double stagger is sick. Except when trying to find matching tires. Only reason I didn't mention that is the rpf1's weren't listed in a 16 with a proper offset that i could find on enkei website. Maybee I missed it. idk
So the 17x 8 work up front, as well as the 17X9 out back. 205-215 40 17 up front and 245-255 40 17 out back sound about right with those rims? |

Looks Like Rota D2 has a few options.
Fronts 17X7.5 +30 Rears 17 X 8.5 +30 18X8 +25 18X9 +35 No idea on weights either. But comes in silver w/polished lip, Black w/ polished lip, and steel grey. My car is white so I am thinking either silver, or Black W/polished lip. |

nooooooooooooooo.
you can't consider 2 good quality, fairly priced wheels, and then throw a fake multipiece into the mix. |

^ +1 friends don't let friends ride on rotas. They are ok i guess if you use them for a cheap lightweight track wheel but other than that if you rock them on a daily basis then you should be slapped.

Slap me then ......... I had 18x8 torque with 245/35 18 and 17x8.5 with 245/40 17 on the legacy wagon.
I've got no beef with rota other than the fake multi's. |

Ah sorry someone suggested checking Rota. Seems like they don't make much in a proper offsets other than the D2s. It's ok probably going to rock the 5zigens in silver. Would consider the black with polished lip if the center was black too.
BTW I have a white car. Hey at least I don't wanna rock the 20"+ spinners on the 2. |

haha its ok its just my personal opinion. The silver wheels or the black with a chrome lip will look sexy on white.

Also, since i'm new to the whole nice rims, wheels stuff. I imagine that since I can only see these rims in pictures online, that it is more difficult to tell what is good and what is crap.
Obviously rims for multiple bolt patterns are out. Rims that weigh a ridiculous amount, I would say 20lbs plus for the mr2 are out, that is if you can even find a weight stat for the wheels. I really like the work equips that have, of course, been discontinued. I couldn't afford a decent used set right now anyway. Hell I can't afford nothing right now. Just dreaming |

As far as quality goes ......... it's largely a fashion whore thing.
Enkei is one that markets high end and low end under the name. Other companies, like Rays, have multiple brands within the company to serve different needs - top of the line all the way down to cheap stuff. A copied wheel design is okay with me for some reason, possibly because even top manufacturers have designs that are extremely similar. I hate fake bolts because they are fake - I think of them like fake badges or fake vents or fake anything - pointless. Just rambling ................................. |

It will probably be the same wheels all around but the tires will be staggered. Do you think it will looked flushed? Flushed means little room between the tire and fender right?

Can't say I like them for look or fitment (the fitment is bad for look and performance).
I'd look at other tire options too. No, those wheels won't be anywhere close to flush. approx 1/2" tuck up front and a full inch tuck in back. |

Thanks for replying paalo.
Do you mind elaborating on why it is bad for performance and looks with the placements so I know what to look for? Also what brand tires do you recommend? Edit: Also wondering why the tires are bad? They seem to have pretty good reviews? Last edited by JohnnyBaloney; 05-04-2009 at 06:00 PM.. |

performance:
throws off balance of the car. *shouldn't* run 235/40 17 on a 7.5 (outside tire manufacturer specs by 1/2"). proposed setup would increase oversteer. looks: stock wheels are equidistant from front and rear fenders. same width and offset all around makes the rear look sunken ......... in those specific sizes, that's not a bad tire (the tires aren't bad, they're just not good compared to serious summer tires). if you get a better fitting set of wheels with at least an 8" rear, your size options will open up considerably giving you more tire options as well. For instance: 215/40 17 front and 245/40 17 rear gives you options like the hankook rs2 (better and less expensive than the yoko, imo) and much better options like the dunlop star spec (although more expensive as well), and the kumho XS. The yoko is a wanna be, the star spec, kumho xs, and re-11 are the top tires at the moment. The hankook rs2 and kumho mx (if there are enough remaining - being replaced by the xs) are older designs, but are still better for performance driving than the yoko. If you're just highway cruising, nevermind my tire rant. If you don't want your car to look great, but just want some tuner looking wheels, pick up the drags. |
