Lightbulb which tires on 17x7 / 18x9

Hi
i've buyed som BBS Rims

17x7 Front
18x9 Rear

What tires will fit best? What do you think about 205/40/17 and 225/35/18?
My 2 is a 1991 Euro NA, so not the biggest tires required.

thx

that'll work, but I'd probably use a 235/35 18 or 245/35 18 out back ......... you'd be spot on in back with the 225/35 18 for the typical euro stretch though.

i dont like the stretch-look. so you recon 205/40/17 - 235/35/18? Is there some remarkable difference in handling and performance? I dont like the Idea, that fat tires slow down the N/A car

Even 235 will be a little stretched. 245 is approximately square on a 9" wheel.

what are your offsets?

if you don't like the stretched look, run 215/40/17 and 255/35/18. those would be perfect imo.

The rims are
Front 7x17 ET35
Rear 9x18 ET48

Performance is more important than look for me. What will do the trick best on my 91 N/A?

With a 255/35/18 in the back would you need to roll the fender with a +35 offset?

Does anyone know how to compare a 245/40 to a 255/35 on a 9 inch rim for fitment?

Then stay with the smaller setup, 205/40 17 front and 245/35 18 rear.

probably on the roll unless you want to run more negative camber.

what do you mean "compare"? They're different widths and overall diameters?

18x9 et 48 is going to be sunk in, even with a 255. Get 10mm spacers.. and you will be closer to flush.. but not flush.

Ideally you would want a 25et for a 17x7.. and that would make it flush with 215/40/17 tires.. but a 5mm spacer will work good.. and make it look nice..

Those are not that great off offsets for the car.. but the front will still look 'ok' I think w/o spacers.. but the back will look pretty crappy unless you get spacers IMO.. even with 255's.

I know they are different sizes. I want to know how well they fill the wheel well. Like a 255 needs a rolled fender a 245 won't if you use negative chamber...etc.

I am looking for a Flush look on the rear with an 18x9. I am set on the +35 offset but the tire size also adds to the looks. If I have a 17x8 with a 215/40 upfront the tires is .46" wider than the rim lip width. On a 18x9 a 245 is .64" wider and a 255 is 1.03" wider. I was curious if I should go with the 245 to keep it closer looking to the front.

you're considering a 245/40 18? Crazy talk, imo ...... hopefully you mean 245/35 18.

look at the individual tire specs for whatever you are considering because different manufacturers and models differ quite a bit. For instance, a bstone re11 in 255/35 18 will only overhang .1" on each side of the wheel.

Where did you get your measurements? You understand that an 8" wheel is actually 9" wide with the flanges, right? so the tread is actually a little wider than the bead seats (in theory - assuming the tread is an actual 215mm), but overall, the tire will have a very slight stretch.

You are correct in thinking that *generally* a 215/40 17 will fit an 8 *approximately* the way a 245/35 18 fits a 9. You *shouldn't* have any clearance issues with that.
