Which hubcentric rings do I need?
I am going to get me some 17x8 and 17x9 5Zigen FN01R-C's for my 94t. What hubcentric rings do I need to buy for these wheels? I can't seem to find the info on 5Zigen's site :-\.

From its website: Hub Rings, they sell hub rings that are 73mm (OD) and 54mm (ID) for Toyota's with either a 5-100 or 4-100 bolt pattern. 73mm is a standard centerbore for a multi-fit wheel, and 54mm is Toyota's hub diameter. My best guess is that their wheels have a 73mm centerbore. If you are purchasing the hub rings from an outlet other than from 5zigen, (who appears to manufacture them from a precious metal based on the pricing), get a hub ring of a similar design.
Edit: The above referenced bolt pattern and hub diameter information is incorrect re the MK2 model. My apologies. Last edited by palos; 05-27-2009 at 12:39 PM.. Reason: presumptuous assumption correction |

I recall the Mk2s being a 60.1mm centerbore, I'd have to check my stuff when I got home to be sure though....
we're also 5x114.3 bolt pattern, but that doesn't affect the centerbore or anything... |

Yes, from what I have read our stock OD is 60.1mm. I'll look and see if I can double verify with a discount tire or something on the hubcentric ring.
Any ring just as good as the other? I want to get a metal one, and not plastic. Aside from that though, I have no idea if one is better than the other? Thanks guys ![]() |

i dont see how its possible to offset a tapered nut and hole interface like a wheel uses.. actually ive installed tons of wheels without them without problems. the lugnut perfectly centers the wheel, 5 times.
if you got aftermarket wheels that use shanked lugs, then maybe.. but tapered cone nuts, no way. cant happen.

TomsMR2: Without hub rings, if one of the lug nuts is tightened too much before the other lug nuts are seated, it is possible that the wheel will not be centered, as there is play between the diameter of the lug hole and the diameter of the wheel stud. The hub rings help center the wheel before any of the lug nuts are tightened.

I'm with TomsMR2 ..... but they do make it slightly easier to mount the wheel (and I take wheels off several times a month, sometimes several times a week) so the $10 to 15 is worth it to me.
I've seen vibe issues that seem to be cleared up by them although it could certainly be careless tightening of the lugnuts causing a slight imbalance. 73 to 60 is what the OP wants.
