if running a 17x8 +45, what tire size?

if I was running a 17"x8"wide wheel with a +45 offset.... what tire size would fit without rubbing?

the tire calculator only really gives you ideas of flushness, and you have to enter your own tire size/width. I really just need to know suspension clearance.

245/40/17... assuming this is for the rear.

Yes, but not with a +45 offset. Should be about +33 to +40 for 8" wide in front.

i have 8" in the front with a +40 offset. you should be fine. the only thing ou need to look for is if the inner tire hits your mount supporting the bottom of the spring. turning may also be a problem.

That last 5mm really does matter.
Fitting an 8 +45 up front with any tire would be very fortunate.

an 8" +45 up front will not fit. my 16x8 +46 hits the strut housing. I have to run a 5mm spacer (making my effective offset +41) in order to run my wheels. even still, it's so darn close to hitting. probably have like 1-2mm of clearance. and if you're gonna run a 8" wide rim upfront, you'd probably go with a 215/40/17. but others have made a 235/40/17 work. however, i don't know what they used for offsets or how they setup their suspension settings...

have to dig this out..
can someone confirm that a 17x8 +45 will work at front with a aftermarket suspension (i got the monoglex).
i checked the wheel calc - but it cant tell me much about strut clearances..
problem is that my dream wheel comes in ugly offsets..

next option would be 17x7 +48 front which would require 25mm spacer!!

It has been confirmed, by those knowledgable posters above. It won't work unless you like scraping noises (especially on a coilovers system). Time to dream up another wheel or get spacers.
