ceramic brake pads?

Any opinions on ceramic brake pads for everyday driving? Monroe has front ceramic pads for $33 with a $20 rebate.

for pure street driving I go with whatever's cheap and makes the car stop

if you're looking for any kind of performance increase you need to start looking at stuff like Porterfield R4S, Hawk HPS or HP+, etc

I am using ceramic pads for daily driving and love them...almost no brake dust.

I thought the Porterfield R4S was dirt cheap - like $65/axle or so

the stuff I run now is about twice that, ugh...

If im not mistaken, which I may be... ceramic pads wear out quite a bit quicker than normal pads. The only advantage that I know of for ceramic pads is to reduce brake fade. For a dd, I would say that ceramic pads aren't necessary unless you do a lot of "spirited" driving on steep hills.

I bought the cheapest possible pads from Napa, all around- they stop well, but they make alot of squeaky noise and a *ton* of dust. Definately not ceramic, but I'd avoid the cheapest pads around if the dust bothers you. It bothers me because I cant get under the car without spending a half hour cleaning brake dust out of everything.

for performance use, yeah they might be slightly better that stock-ish stuff... but I wouldn't bother with anything below the Hawk HP+,HPS or Porterfield R4S line (which means skip anything EBC as well). Period. Don't mess with lesser stuff
