No sound....

I have a pioneer indash set up that ive been trying to get working in my car. Everything on it functions the way its supposed to.... but there is NO sound. Anyone have any idea what my problem is? Im pretty sure the pioneer unit is perfectly fine. Everything is wired properly too.

Dude, no joke.. I was sitting in my girl friend's car one time, and she was complaining that her stereo stopped working. I reached over and turned up the volume knob, and she was like, "Ooohhh!! didn't think of that".. lol

well in my MR2 i only have speakers in the doors, and everything was workin fine (i have a pioneer deck too) and i hit a bump then the sound just stopped. Everything functioned, just no sound. so i took the deck out and disconnected the wires for the rear speakers and everything works just fine. Other than that, couldn't tell ya.

Check for continuity to ground with all wires going to the speakers.

i know some of the MR2's have amps hidden in the little panel on the driver side where the seatbelt is. not sure if they ALL have it.

All mk2's have amps. 91-92's have two, 93+ with premium sound have 3. Ideally these amps should be bypassed with any aftermarket head unit by wiring the speakers directly to the headunit. But that does not explain why there would be no sound. You can test the output of the head unit by wiring a test speaker directly to the speaker outputs on the deck.

I have the same issue - works of the kenwood unit that came in the car, but not of the sony one im trying to fit, ran test speaker all was fine had sound.

Seems with the RCA outs on my sony - the voltage is to high 4v compared to 2.2v on the Kenwood, got adapter to wire normal speaker cables to RCA Connection. Seems to work fine now.

Is this a common problem with the 2?
