Start off by looking here: Sound Off - Toyota MR2 Message Board
They have the stock sizes and pinouts. As far as install directions, this is probably your best bet: MKII Toyota MR2 Audio How-To
You have a lot of options for the front speakers. But for the rear speakers, its an uncommon shape. I went with a 4" round Polk Audio in the rear, 6.5" Pioneers in front, Boston Acoustic 10" Sub, and Rockford Amp. I just went to the Crutchfield website and did the 'outfit my car.' Good luck.

If yur looking for speakers check out Parts Express - Amplifiers, Head Units, Speakers, Wiring Kits, Subwoofers, Dampening. though pioneers are great speakers there are other good options that are cheap. only thing is that you should be looking for speakers that are on the thin side.

Are you planning on putting in a sub because I just bought some of the pioneer TS-G 4 inch dash speakers for my MK1 and they don't deliver much bass. They sounded great in the store but were pretty weak in the car so I'm adding a 10 inch sub.

My front speakers are completely shot but it already had a newer, crappy head unit installed. I am not trying to upgrade to a crazy system, and I wanted to avoid the complicated wiring of a full amp'd system.

Would it be possible to use existing stock speaker wire with these speakers

Amazon.com: Polk Audio DB651 6.5-Inch Coaxial...Amazon.com: Polk Audio DB651 6.5-Inch Coaxial...

and this head unit

Amazon.com: Sony CDX-GT630UI MP3/WMA/AAC...Amazon.com: Sony CDX-GT630UI MP3/WMA/AAC...

without using an amp?

Again I dont need it to be super loud i'd like it to not crackle!!

I have Pheonix Gold RSd 6.5 components in the doors. I had to make spacer rings and trim the door panel to make them fit - and it is still tight. They sound great and are relatively inexpensive. Google their reviews - I did, that's why I went with them and I am couldn't be much happier. I have them powered by the head unit, and it sounds really good, but I may switch it up this spring and power them with an amp. I can turn the volume all the way up with zero distortion, and it's too loud to sit in the car.
