Rear component speakers in an MK2?

hey,
I know everyone says that speakers in the rear are useless, but I have some extra 4" component speakers that I'd like to throw back there. I do plan to fade them out for the proper sound. When I pulled out the 3.5" rear speaker, it was just a woofer. I am wondering if anyone knows about the amp going to the rear speakers.

1) Is the original 3.5" speaker a woofer or a full range speaker?
2) Is the amp going to that speaker set with a low pass crossover or anything?
3) If I use the original speaker wires to connect the x-over + new speakers, will I be ok?
4) Has anyone done this before?
5) Any recommendations for a location of the tweeter?

1) I would guess that it is a mid range
2) I highly doubt it
3) You should
5) I put a set on the pillars above the seat belt but the stock location should be ok
