Has anybody tried the UV LED? Just wondering if that would make the dials "glow" or if it is just crap-ola??
I am putting in the blue LED gauges from EMSPowered...so looking for something that is going to either match that or give me a kewl contrast. |

The UV bulb would probably hurt your eyes because it is not really bright.

Thanks for posting this up Ben. I know your posting was in 2006, but I just read this in 2009 since I'm new here. Ben's mod was for the MK2's and I just did the one for the MK1's for anyone else that is interested. Both of these are now covered. I just used the same LED'S he used so that was very helpful. Here's mine.

Huge typo: I think I might do the reverse glow gauges in the car. The lights in the gauges are lighting up the drivers side of the car.
I tried the wide angle 5-leds, and regular 6-led but it wasn't the look I was going for. So I soldered about 80 SMT leds into the back of the cluster. It's ridiculously bright but I want something that looks different. I used the same type of leds for my trunk: ![]() Only 40 in the trunk though. Twenty on the right Cool White and Twenty on the left Warm White. So I have double the leds in the cluster. Last edited by TonyHuynhTwo; 12-21-2009 at 07:09 PM.. Reason: double post |
