How deep of speakers fit in MK2?

How deep of speakers can we get in the front doors? I am looking at some high-end JL's or Alpine's and Crutchfield says they don't fit :-\

These are the speakers I am looking at:

Alpine's

JL's

I have yet to go and hear Boston Acoustic's in person, but that's the next speaker I go look at, and some Polk's too so maybe I'll find some of their brands good, and that will fit.

Think I'll lose much sound going to their 5 1/4'' speakers over the 6 1/2'' if the 6 1/2'' doesn't fit?

I think Boston Acoustics are on the same par as JL, maybe even better. They're tweeter and midrange designs are top notch. I think that you are safe with almost any 6.5" up front. Does it say why it doesn't fit? Speaker cutout or mounting depth?

not true, I have some 6.5's that wont fit my doors without cutting, and I have some that are too deep. go outside and measure your depth.. it's not too hard... or when I go to play with my setup a little more today, I'll measure.

If you could measure, that'd be awesome. I am currently without a MR2 (sold mine 2 days ago, and pick up my new one Saturday).

It looks like anothing over about 2.4'' wont mount up. The Boston pro60's look about the same depth as the Alpines and JL's above, but if you read the the stuff it comes w/ a 1/2'' spacer too. Using that, it'll clear and is my guess as to why crutchfield shows it as fitting, and shows the others as not fitting.

They happen to make universal spacers for them?
