audio instlal issues

i wanna buy some audio stuff, but i cant even get my aftermarket head unti to work right, can only get 1 or 2 speakers to work at a time, what u guys think? im using the metra premium harness, im about to just cut the oem plug and wire it straight i think the metra harness is it only has a few wires and like 4 rac jacks, but the stereo only has 2 pre amp out puts or whatever those are.... CaN ANY one make any sense out of this?

why don't you test the metra harness and make sure the connections are all good? I personally would never cut the OEM harness if can be avoided

it's probably not the harness, it's probably that your headunit isn't compatible with your built in amps. you are better off running new wires to your speakers.

Depeneding which pair of colored rca jack i plug into the stereo it will treat them differently. colors grey, green, red, black.
u can tell by messing with the front to rear bias, and left to right bias that its treating certain plugs as that prticular channel, but no matter what nothin will come out the right side, oem stero still works fine all 4 channels bleh, but its not cd player lol..... man i kinda wish i could get a good deal on a oem toyota stereo that plug and play.
Thanx for the tips so car, keep em coming
and what exactly should i be checking in the harness?
and which 2 rca jack shoudo i be using.

When I set up my headunit, only one of my speakers worked. I had to run new wire to the drivers side.
