Dash removal
Ok I've got it unbolted and ready to come out but I was hoping I could finagle it around the steering wheel but just cant seem too. Is there any easy way to remove the steering column or is it possible to get the dash over the turn / tilt stalks on the column?

Gee..my experiences are with the Mark1 (you didn't mention your year/type?). The steering column pulls rather easily, once you get the cladding off.
Ya gotta unplug all the electrical stuff, it's really not that imtiminating. Be sure to mark the bottom clamp and the steering rack shaft it'll help to align/center the steering wheel when re-assembling. I keep the bottom bolted up, pull the seat and lay the complete steering assembly on the empty floor. Good for you doing your own dash, very admirable. |

after you take out all the electrical stuff in the center (radio, climate control, etc), and the guage cluster, all you really need to do is unbolt the (4)14mm bolts that hold the column in place. when the column drops, you can easily pull the dash out without any hassle. its even easier if yo upull your seats out which are only held in by (4)14mm bolts as well! Yea that totally worked. Already have moved one dash over. Don't forget about a screw above the glove box, the one under the right window defogger, and the 2 at the bottom near the shifter.

I always forget about that little bugger on the top. I never take out the screw under that passenger defroster and I always spend the better part of an hour trying to figure out why the dang thing won't come out

hahah Yep. There seems to come a point where you will just have to pull and tug to get it loose. You dont have to take out the climate control (which is a pita to put back together) you can wiggle it through
