Anyone try the Tang Band W6-1721 6-1/2" Underhung Midbass Driver up front?

I want to replace the front components in my 94 premium audio system. I have replaced the rear subs with the Tang Band subs and the rear 3-1/2" speakers with 4" components. Right now, the system sounds nice, but I'm sure the fronts need to be replaced. My main questions are:

-Do the tweeters go bad as easily as woofer surrounds and such? If not, i'd like to just replace the woofers since my highs sound good enough as it sits now.

-Would the Tang Band midbass be a good replacement? It has great specs and is 4ohm. I wonder about the depth and is it going to sound ok with the stock crossover and tweeter combo?

-It looks better than any mid that comes with any component system in my price range. I feel that replacing the tweeter and the crossover might be a waste of money if i can put in a badass midbass driver and call it good. thoughts?

From PartExpress.com:
Quote:
"The W6-1721 6" midbass features a long throw, underhung 1-1/2" voice coil driven by a massive 50 oz. ferrite magnet. A shorting ring on the polepiece is responsible for the speaker's extremely low levels of second and third order harmonic distortion. This impressive motor is coupled to an optimized paper cone with rubber surround, supported by a cast aluminum frame. The driver's naturally high and smooth upper frequency rolloff facilitates simplified crossover designs.

Specifications: Power handling: 50 watts RMS/100 watts max *VCdia: 1-1/2" *Impedance: 4 ohms *Re: 3.4 ohms *Frequency range: 40-5,000 Hz *Fs: 40 Hz *SPL: 88 dB 1W/1m *Vas: 1.04 cu. ft. *Qms: 3.58 *Qes: .49 *Qts: .43 *Xmax: 8 mm *Dimensions: A: 6.95", B: 5.8", C: 4.3". "
Price: $51.66 EA

This thing looks badass. BTW, this beast weighs 11.75 lbs. For comparison, the 5-1/4" Tang Band neodymium subs everybody uses weigh 1.88 lbs.

It should work just fine if your running an amp and if so do you have powered crossover networks?

Reading > me... I don't think the stock crosover on it is gonna be that optimal as its a mid bass thats capable of playing down to sub levels and i'm not to sure of how great it would sound up to3khz so what i'd do is see what people do to run Dayton RS-180's because your gonna run into similar problems of it going really low and not going real high to blend in with the tweeters. The tweeters on a setup like this will definately to be changed also to blend in at such a low frequency.

denver, the 6-1/2" woofer goes to 5000Hz. any idea of the stock xover frequency?

This 5" woofer plays to 10,000Hz. might that be a better choice?

Yeah the 5" might be a better idea but in no way am I trying to deter you from the other choice i'm just saying that it may get muddy at higher frequencies but if your like me and avg sq is good enough I would get that then I think tweeters from rainbow at parts express to help blend in.

Truthfully I have no clue of stock crossover points but I wouldn't doubt that there are no crossover points.

I haven't taken my door apart, but can someone report on the deepest possible woofer that can be used? I know you can space it with rings to clear the window, but at what point does it hit the door such that it will absolutely not fit? By looking at the door, there appears to be a lot of room. anybody have dimensions or pics of what can be cut?

thanks
