No worries about flames mate

That's a pretty cool idea. That actually has some interesting potential.

I would love to build my radar detector into something like that. (Yes, I know that would reduce it's accuracy.)

Looks sweet though...I like it better than the pillar ones.

okay, i started trying many methods in this and out of that came that the pod needs to be like cube if it has 2 gauges. So im going to have the pod like cube but smooth the edges so it will look more like oem map light cover, i will see how this turns out when it will be finished, its not the best place to make a gauge pod without modify the mirror, this is my first try and if im not happy i make another
first layer of glassfiber bondo

bottom view, im going to smooth the edges a little more if i can so it will look nicer

That looks great!

I am actually planning out a similar project but with a 3" GPS NAV setup from magellan that I found. The only issue I'm trying to figure out is how to mount it to the existing cabin light mount and the view from the rear view mirror.

im going to bolt up a 90° bent aluminum and put screws in the sides of the gauge pod, like the cover of the corollas brakelight covers were.
like this

Turbo-, that's coming along nice. Can't wait to see the pics when it's finished and mounted up! So you are planning to keep dome lights in it? That's nice. I saw a guy who make a pod in that location for his Blitz boost controller. However, he had to use a windshield mount mirror from a Buick with map lights built in since it eliminated a dome light in the OEM location.

If you make your roof mount double 52mm pod and are able to somehow keep dome lights in that location, that would be sweet!

PHOENIX, if you ever finish the roof mount gps project, post up some pictures on the board. I'd love to see it!

No dome lights? That would drive me nuts. I can't stand no dome lights. Makes looking for things in your car at night a PITA.
