MKII, front speakers wont work!

So I tried replacing the door speakers with some 6 1/2 JL's, and absolutely no sound comes through. I thought i remembered reading somewhere that the harness in the door has been known to go bad and I was wondering different ways to test that, and other possible problems. Thanks

A test light on the speaker leads will let you know if you are getting power.

My driver door went bad, there's a write-up on this forum on how to replace all the wires in the door that I'll be doing when it gets warm outside

but 3 outta 4 speakers isn't too bad

Do you got the stock radio or aftermarket?
you may want to pull your radio out and see if the radio wiring harness has been cut

I dont have either front door speakers working, I just have 2 1 1/2 speakers in the rear, so its pretty hard to hear it especially with my exhaust. I have aftermarket, but I dont think the harness has been cut. Ill take some pics for you guys. Where can I go about getting a test light. I know what your talking about though

Alright, thanks. So powers not getting to the speakers, and my windows will cut in and out of working. I think I can safely assume I need to fix the harness.

Did the stock speakers work before you put the new JL's in? If so, you did something wrong. Also, if they came with a crossover make sure you've installed that correctly.

No, the previous speakers were dying out, but I just assumed it was a speaker problem and not possible corrosion. And they didnt come with a crossover
