How can I bypass the Stock CD Player

I've got a 91 with the seperate radio/Tape player and CD player. I want to remove the CD player and replace it with a cupholder but when I disconnect the CD player from the stock radio, my speakers go dead. The radio is still on (ie the display is still on) but no sound comes out the speakers.

I don't have a picture but hopefully this page from the BGB illustrates what I'm dealing with. The round connector connects the radio to the CD player.

What I'd like to know is how can I jumper the connections between the radio and CD player so that my radio still works.
