attn to those with 12" subs, help?

How have you mounted them? Or 10" although they are hard to get hold of. How to I get maximum volume behind the passenger seat? Any box diagrams?

I currently have one of those SWS 8" Pioneer subs, they are ok, but dont go low or loud enough for me.
Anyone cut out the storage box and made a large wedge?
Pictures?

I currently have 2 Sound stream components that run off an 800watt Fusion power plant amp and an 8" SWS Sub running off the two other bridged channels.
The backs have 4" Sonys in them, they run off the head unit.

With our cars a 12" isnt usually necessary, but if you really want to go that way you will most likely need a shallow mount - MTX, Alpine, etc and just make your box like the EMS powered 10" but a bit taller, ported boxes will be too big for an MR2

i make my own box and i'm using a 12".

i move everything to the back for more room in the sitting area.

here is one when it's half cover. or you can just cut out where you want to see the amp.

the cover for the amp have alot of holes in them and very thin. so that the amp won't heat up. you can install fan in there if you want too.

In my other thread there is a couple more details regarding what im currently putting in my car.

That thing is going in behind the passenger seat.

Those are the specs.
Its a monster.
I'll make a build thread once its all done.
So far I have cut out the storage box and have laid down some fibreglass, it'll harden tonight and then i'll build a box up from that.

Dumb question MR.Asian but how did you get power to those amps? Ran from the trunk? or from a 12v source in the engine bay?

No pic at the moment. I ripped out the storage boxes, And used a contour gauge for the uneven floor. I built the 12 inch boxes using the floor board and fire wall as bottom and back of boxes on my blk 91. I also used the MB courts with the reverse cones and foam so they didnt stick out, And could still put my seats back the whole way. They worked REALLY well. Hahahah....Not to mention all the liquid nail I used to fill gaps. They will NEVER come out!

^ Im currently doing the same sorta thing.
I was doing a fiberglass bottom now its just a semi wedge box with a bit cut out.
I'll make a build thread once its all up and running.

Just in case anyone is interested, here is the fitment of my sub and sub box. It currently doesn't have a top, isnt glued together and doesn't have baffling but that'll all be done soon.

Its a big boy

Plenty of room for it to work

Im 5'11 and a big guy and can still get in there so my only passenger, my much shorter girlfriend will be fine.

can you still make the box less thick? if you look at my second pic. you can see it's the same thickness as the cd box in the center. and i'm 5"6...it's still not enough space for me. smaller box can give out some pretty nice sound too. i'm on 12" with 1000w amp. it give off some pretty nice bass.

Width or Depth? Sorry I dont quite under stand the question, i can make it shallower by about 80MM (threeish inches) and I may end up doing that for a bit of extra leg room.
Oh right, I kinda get what you mean now, I cant make it as shallow as the CD box, the sub has to much depth.

I am in the process of building a sub box for my '94. I bought a Elemental Designs SQ10 subwoofer (10" Shallow mount). It only requires .25 cubic ft - .5 cubic ft (.3 optimal) in a sealed enclosure. It will be going behind the passenger seat, and I will be forming it to the shape of the interior so it SHOULD look like part of the car, not an afterthought. It will allow the seat to slide all the way back and recline fully, as if there were nothing behind it. I will also be building an identical structure to go behind the driver's seat, where I will recess-mount the amp. I am 6'3" - 200lbs, so I need (and will have) the full space the cockpit allows. I will take some pics when I get it done - hopefully by this weekend.

This is what I made for mine. This is with an 8", but from what I measured, a 10" would squeeze in between the seats. Being that close to your head the 8" is good enough for me

i would go all out and get a bigger one, but i don't want anything to show. those small boxes are small enough to be hidden and still sound ok.

Don't waste your money. You'd be better of getting some good 6.5" components in the doors. My '94 has a factory sub behind each seat and it still sounds like crap. I can't wait for all of my new stuff to show up so I can finally ENJOY some music in the 2 - so far it's been just barely better than nothing...

Looking forward to seeing pics of the finished product when the guys who are building the subs into the cars are finished!!!

I installed my components, Sunday. They were the only speakers hooked up, and by themselves they sounded MUCH better than my entire stock "Premium" sound system with the 2 little subs and all... just FYI for when you start buying new speakers and such, they make a dramatic difference.

Holy crap. I'd go deaf with my JL8w6 right next to my ear like that. I've got mine behind the driver's seat with the amp mounted on the fire wall behind the passenger seat. My entire body shakes, I could only imagine my ears bleeding with your configuration.
