need japanese ecu help

hello
am in the process of swapping 5sfe out of a 91 mr2 and putting a japaense 3sgte engine in. got the whole process from a wrecking yard that shipped it to me. car will not start, cranks ok. traced the problem down to the ecu by process of elimination. (ie swapping in known good parts) issue is a no-spark.
anyone know where i can get a japansese ecu for this thing? p/n is 89661-17380. other question is will a us ecu work?
little bit of info here. i am actually a service manager at a toyota dealership trying to help this kid out. he got us the motor and we are installing.
sorry if this question has been posted before, i couldnt seem to locate any help by searching (or maybe i was just not searching correctly)
thanks for any help
aaron

Chico Race Works often stocks JDM ECUs.

Contact Josh at www.chicoraceworks.com and ask him if he can supply you the JDM ECU. His prices are very fair

You will have to do some research to find out what year motor you have. 91-92 usdm ecus will work on 91-92 motors and 93-95 usdm motors require a ecu from a 93-95 ecu.

any ideas how to tell what year motor we have? toyota does not give us casting numbers or anything, there was no documantation with the motor either. all i have is the ecu part nymber, that tells me it is a 93 jdm ecu.
thanks again.
