AEM EMS VSS setting

Anyone know the proper settings for the VSS for my 91 Mr2 Turbo with me AEM EMS. The sensor is registering 250 when I'm standing still and hunts like crazy. Not stable at all. The wizard lets you select 91-95 Mr2 Turbo, but the steeings are NOT right. Here is the default settings:

speed falling edge - checked
speed rising edge - checked
speed h sens below - 6300
speed h sens above - 6300
vss cal* 8 - checked
vss calibration - 105.00
vss filter - unchecked
vss minimum display - 5
vss smooth - checked
vss input - vehicle speed

Please Help...

Did you ever get this figured out?

I just had an AEM installed...and the Speedo is not working. AEM tech support has been little help.

if it helps, the frequency output of the sensor is 4000 pulses/mile.

Any suggestions on how to test the sensor? I pulled the gauge cluster out and the wiring looked fine there.

OK. So I thought I could just probe the back side of the plug, but it has the little stoppers in there...

So I decided to just see if the sensor was getting power. I unplugged it and probed the plug with the car on.

I am getting 2.45 volts. I assumed 12?

Can someone verify how much power this thing runs on?

OK. Getting scared now.

According to the wiring diagram, it looks like both the ABS computer and the Speedo rely on a working Cruise Control ECU.

I don't think the AEM supports Cruise Control.

Can anyone confirm?

Talked with AEM.

Their EMS does not support Cruise Control.

They said that they actually don't send anything to the speedo at all. They accept the speed input, but nothing actually uses it per say.

So how did you fix the problem? I just ordered the AEM EMS and my car has cruise control also.

So I have not fixed it yet, but I finally know what the problem is:

My alternator.

There is a black/yellow wire that provides power to the speedo sensor and the ABS computer that originates on the alternator. The tuner said my alternator was bad, so they rebuilt it. I guess when they did they messed up something related to that plug...because it is only sending 2.5 volts when it should be sending 12.

The speedo sensor then sends a signal to my speedo...so that is why my speedo is not working and my ABS computer is not working.

So...waiting on the tuner to give me a date to bring in the car so they can fix the alternator.

To answer your other questions, the EMS isn't involved in the cruise control system at all, nor is the stock ECU. The cruise control system should work just fine.

this is the problem I have but it cant be the altinator......i know this is a old thread want to bring it back alive. as I'm havine the same problem

It ended up being a fuse that was in the engine bay. I don't remember which one exactly, but once that was replaced everything worked just fine.

It took them a little while to track it down, but I would suggest checking all of your fuses.
