Group Buy on AW11 coilovers currently only offered for 87-89, 85-86 will be available in March
Coilovers are imported by Function/Form and are well known with the honda guys. i talked to them about bring coilovers for the aw11 and this is what we came up with

i ve been testing these coilovers for over 6 months now and made changes to them. the pictures are of the last test version. the production models are polished and come with F2 springs not ebaich the ebaich springs in the picture were for spring rate testing. i ll have pictures of the production models next week i have to download them from my camrea

Group buy currently is for 5 sets and i ll add more if demand goes up
Shipping by DHL ground to all 50 states, shipping quotes will be done by zip code and weight.

So wait, what makes them different? The two revisions mount the same both at the tophat, and the hub. The only difference is the strut tube diameter, and the strut diameter.

What is the spring length and diameter on these? I assume they are a linear rate spring as well.

Are these a rebuildable strut? What diameter is the piston, and the strut shaft? Are they an oil or gas dampner? Are the rebound/compression seperately adjustable or are they like the Koni's where it mainly adjusts bound and slightly affects rebound? Granted for $860 that's an excellent price for all that, but I can get rebuildable 40mm seperate bound/rebound adjustable units for a couple hundred more. I'm not trying to blast your product, as it looks to be excellent quality, I just need to see if it will fit my needs.

two revisions? i didnt post the revisions i made the pics are of the same coilover just different angles
-spring length is 7" (and 8" will fit as well) and the ID of the spring is 2.5"
-yes these struts are rebuildable and revalvable
-piston diameter and shaft i ll get back to you on that
-yes the springs are linear (the ebaichs in the pic are not)
-rebound/compression adjusted together

the main thing for me as i was looking for coilovers myself was that the custom sets (ground control sleeves and koni shocks) was that the droop was way too long and the lose of travel. coilovers are designed to have shorter droop travel and have a shorter body so one can retain stock height travel. also these are height adjustable without the lose of travel. so these were the main reason i set out to get these made

no i totally understand $860 is a lot of money and i am glad you asked all these questions because i am sure another board member will have the same
i am hoping to get a discussion going and your post helps with that

By revision I meant '85-'86 vs '87-'89. The only difference I knew of between them was that the strut tube had a larger diameter to fit the larger strut insert. I currently have '89 tubes and tophats on my '86 and they bolted straight in. I guess I'm trying to figure out why you have to versions.

oh, yeah the main difference between the 85-86 and 87-89 is that the rear knuckle is bigger on the 87-89 the rear knuckle on the 87-89 is the same size as on the sw20 on the 85-86 its the same size as the front of the aw11

Ah crap, you're right. I completely forgot about that! Damn I'm just forgetting all kinds of pertinent information as of late. Engine designations, revision differences, head differences, where I put my keys, that my laptop isn't supposed to go in the fridge, etc. Exactly why you shouldn't work in a server room 6 days a week. Thanks for the awesome group buy. Once I hear more about the actual strut, I might just be down for a set.

hey guys sorry for the late replays for some reason i stopped getting email alerts so i didnt know there were new posts
i have good news and bad news the good news is the coilovers came in the bad news is there was a mix up in communication and the coilovers didnt come with camber plates so the company will be sending those over in a different shippment i ll have pics posted later today i just have to download them from the camrea

Rxxxdruggist thanks i know you ll like them i ve been testing them now for 6 months and i really like them a lot they give a good balance between performance and comfort swing by sometime and i ll give you a ride

Ncturnal yeah let me know if you want a set

Blakecj7 the main difference between these sets and the original ones are the dampener valving and valve design right off the bat you ll notice these are much more comfortable on the street and bounce a lot less the D2 valving was too stiff i was getting complaints about mr2s skipping all over the freeway. also the adjustabment knob clicks so you ll know which setting you re at. the cumbersom swaybar mount is gone, on the new models the bracket is welded to the main bracket so there is much more room for adjustments with travel, droop, and spring lengths. the camber plates (when they get here) are much more robust then the D2 oh and also they have brakeline brackets so you can mount the brakelines.

please feel free to email me about any questions or concerns at altezzasxe10@juno.com again sorry for the delay as i said earlier i ll post pics later today

thanks
