Revision 6 lights - new interest thread
PLEASE SEE POST #54. I WON'T BE IMPORTING ANY KITS AT THIS TIME!
All, Due to numerous requests and e-mails I am going to gauge interest on another buy and see what happens. I am looking to import another 10 kits. What I need to happen is I need 4-5 people to pre-pay to make this happen. If I can get that I can afford to float the remaining $4000 or so to cover the remaining kits to keep the prices what they have always been (barring any insane exchange rate jumps). People that prepay need to understand that until I reach the minimum number of pre-pays I won't be ordering, so it might be a month or possibly 2. If it falls through, which I hope not, I can always offer refunds if it comes to it. THAT being said here is the info: Anyone that has these kits knows they are not a cheap plastic knock-off. The frames and housings are high quality steel, coated black and the shroud is a formed plastic that fits well. There are basically 3 flavors: Basic kit, comes with everything you need except lights. You will need to source your own 90mm lights. $575 including shipping and insurance. H9 kit which uses the same quality Hella lights as before. H9 high and low beams. $800 including shipping and insurance. HID kit which uses the same quality Hella lights as before. This is a special order only item. Hella HID's are not cheap but their preformance is amazing. I have a full set of high and low Hella HID's on my car and the lighting is insane. Revision 6 Low Rise Kit with H9 HIGHs and HID LOWS: $1775.00 shipped and insured. This includes the connectors to plug in the HID ballasts as well. Revision 6 Low Rise Kit with HID HIGHS and H9 LOWS: $1925.00 shipped and insured. This includes the connectors to plug in the ballasts AND the city light connectors as well. Revision 6 Low Rise Kit with HID HIGHS and HID LOWS: $2775.00 shipped and insured. This includes the connectors to plug in the ballasts AND the city light connectors as well. Currently my supplier has 2 HID lows and 2 HID highs in stock. They can be a pain to get in, especially if Hella is out of them. Hi HID's especially, I waited 2 months to get my HID highs because not even Hella Germany had any in stock. Hella stuff is really nice IMHO, their HID's are awesome and worth the money. Please keep in mind that the HID ballasts are not plug-play and you will need to pin in the 9006 connectors to the loom supplied with the low rise kit or directly to your existing wiring. It's not hard but I recommend having someone knowledgeable with you. If you order an HID set please please make sure to specify your username and what lights (HID highs or lows or both) you are ordering in the paypal notes. HID PICS Please paypal red_firebird_78@yahoo.com, and specify which kit you want, make sure your mailing address and other information is correct. Please include board name in the notes and I CAN NOT ship to P.O. Boxes and unverified addresses. A GOOD article on HID lighting: CLICK HERE Basic pictures of the kit: CLICK HERE HID FAQ/Sticky: CLICK HERE Basic advantages of Hella lights: In a nut shell in my opinion Hella makes some of the best lights around, the same technology that makes these lamps survive 140+ mph across the roughest terrain in the Baja 1000 and light up the night like the sun is the same that goes into the 90mm modules and all their products. Details: Free form: Uses 50,000 reflector points in the lens to focus and precisely direct the light, therefore the reflector is left alone to reflect the light and thus can be optimized as such. This results in a much more even spread pattern, almost no stray light (i.e. wasted). Hella Free Form lamps produce up to 3 times the illumination of ordinary lights. Projector Lamps: An elliptical reflector directs the light into a focusing lens which then bundles it and projects it onto the road, while a shield positioned between the lens and reflector produces a very defined, and precise cutoff. This results in twice the light output with little scattering or loss. (Ideal for low beams). Xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID): The ultimate in lighting, providing 2.5 times the intensity of halogen lights with only 35W consumed. The Xenon capsules are 70% brighter at a color close to natural sunlight (whiting/blue). They also typically last 8 times longer than regular halogen bulbs. The whole lamp is a designed system to achieve the best results. Quality: All Hella lamps are manufactured in a defect free environment resulting in blemish free reflectors and lenses. All lights are subject to 5 hours of simulated off-road driving, simulating the shock and abuses typically seen. For 1 hour the lights are thermal cycled between -40F and +176F to stress temperature extremes. For 1 hour the headlamps are sprayed with water at 58 PSI to simulate driving in torrential rain. As before if you want to take BEFORE and AFTER pics of your car, especially the differences in performance lighting, I will host your 800x600 med to high quality .jpg on our website. Just make sure the size of the pics are under a few hundred Kb. Low rise kits are based off of shipping a group of 10 kits. I NEED 4-5 people to pre-pay to make this happen. So make good use of your economic stimulus check and buy a set! 1 other thing, as always, I can import ANYTHING Rogue offers as well. Group shipping/orders can help a lot on large items like spoilers and stuff where shipping can almost be as much as the product, so group your buddies together on those items. Few questions
I know you say these come with everything you need, but does that include a wiring harness (i.e. would the installation be completely plug and play)? Do the H9 high beam modules include a city light?
Do you know if the 90mm hella Bi-xenon lamps will fit the rev6 housings? I'm guessing the bi-xenon has an extra solenoid sticking out, but I can't work out where it is on the lamp and whether that might cause clearance issues with the housing. Can you PM me a quote for the Hella single xenon lows and H9 highs (I prefer halogen highs rather than xenon). Actually, I'm guessing the part numbers for the Hella lights are as follows (taken of the susquehena website), can you confirm? H9 Low - HL68137 H9 High - HL68136 or HL68152 (city light) Xenon low - HL68139 Sorry about all the questions but hopefully the answers will help others jump on board =). |

Yes it is plug/play, comes with an adapter harness to convert it from H4 to H9's. No. Only ECE spec lights have the city light option, which in this case is only the Hella HID high beams. I could probably special order a H9 ECE high beam from overseas but I don't know the cost. I know 1 guy that was able to drill and fit his own city lights, but I can not recommend this. The Bi-Xenons are larger in diameter, so won't fit without modding the housing. Even then I am unsure if there is enough room within the housing as there isn't a whole lot of extra room in there. I won't have exact numbers until Monday as I do not currently have access to my price sheet, so I'll need to get back to you on that. As you have probably seen that Hella HIDs are not cheap but they are very very nice. |

Hey, just a to clear some stuff up to help with pre-pays...Do you need all the money up front for pre-pays or part of it?
Also, to the people who say they HAVE the $$ and are waiting for him to get the lights. If 4-5 of you step up, he will order them. Why not put the $$ aside. When you guys see 4 other ppl willing to buy them the moment they come in....you have enough to cover the 4-5 ppl needed to order. You can all then pre-pay and he'd most likely order them asap, since the cost would be covered then. It's just a thought. I'd think keeping track of that and stepping up when there's enough would help this happen sooner. |

Is this a normal business practice? I'm not saying it's good or bad, but isn't it unusual for the last 4 or 5 guys interested in a 10 person GB to be dependant on whether the first 4 or 5 guys will go for it?

I just noticed that everyone (me included) always wants to buy it when he has them in stock, but isn't willing to put money towards the minimum pre-pay to get some lights ordered. I just figured if we as customers communicated better, maybe we'd realize there is enough of us willing to pre-pay to make this happen. Last edited by eckoman_pdx; 04-25-2008 at 09:50 PM.. |

1 so far.
I had hoped for more considering the number of requests I had received on emails and PM's. Quote:
I did partial payments before and even though 99% of them worked out ok there was a couple times that weeks would go by with no way to contact the person to fulfill the order, I ended up selling 'their' kit because they vanished and refunded their money and then they show up out of the blue all angry. It just eliminates a lot of hassle.Quote:
If you are saying if it's unusual for me to float $8000 in product hoping that the people 'interested' purchase said kits, or are you saying it's unusual to want people to pay up front? Most buys don't happen unless you have payment up from for all product received, unless it is a group buy with plans to stock the item. I am meeting people 1/2 way on this buy as I can't swing the $8000 to buy the kits myself at this time. I would stock these all the time but with the falling/fluctuating dollar, international shipping, etc... it is just too much of a liability to stock the product over a long period of time. The margin is just way too small, doing this as more of a hobby/service than making bank... There is no last 4 or 5 guys depending on the 1'st 4 or 5. As stated if I can get 4 to 5 prepays I will float the rest. So the only people waiting is the first few, otherwise I can order the kits individually at additional cost. Quote:
I have directed all the people that were wanting the kits after I ran out to this thread. Lets hope it starts to pick-up. Quote:

I only have last years price sheet on the Hella HID's, and the prices have went up so I would ned to check price and availability. The high beam HID's are ECE spec only and have to be imported by my supplier from overseas. Low beams run around $550/each plus shipping and connectors. High beams run around $650/each plus shipping and connectors, you will also need a city light connector for this light to use the city light option. This is the set-up I put in my car, almost 1.5 years ago? now, cost me around $2750 not counting all the little things. The lighting is so bright BUT well focused it is unbelieveable. Prices have most likely changed, I can look into it if you would like. Hope that helps. |

Can I send payment via snail mail? Money order?
I don't much care for Paypal. Interested in: "H9 kit which uses the same quality Hella lights as before. H9 high and low beams. $800 including shipping and insurance." I get up to SLC every so often (Ogden/Layton), and could hand deliver. Is the net result any lighter weight? I know it can't be much, but hey, every ounce counts. Is the mod completely reversible? Any cheaper if I buy two sets? - one for my '93 turbo and one for my pending acquisition '91 turbo? |
